The Prince of Wales (Prince Charles) and Camilla Parker-Bowles - British royalty.

All of these people from diverse backgrounds are famous Jack Russell owners.
Now that you are considering a RAD Jack Russell Terrier it is important to know a
few things about the breed to establish a wonderful relationship.
- RAD Jack Russells are considered "shorties" and "Hunt Terrier". The shorties and Hunt terriers tend to be on the more calmer side than the longer legged Parsons Jack Russell Terriers. They are incredible smart and learn quickly!
- Check out www.ejrtca.org The English Jack Russell Terrier Club Alliance, Inc. or better known as the EJRTCA provides a membership and registry that is dedicated to preserving the English Jack Russell Terrier breed.
You will see this EJRTCA registration is more strict on qualification than AKC or UKC which makes for a more sound Jack Russell.
- RAD Jack Russells Terriers would like to be with you 24/7. They love to sleep with you, go hiking with you, ride in the truck with you, work with you, hunt with you, laugh with you and cry with you because they seem to have so much intelligence they know when you are down and want to be by your side. The love to snuggle on your lap also.
- Remember, your RAD Jack will need exercise. If you happen to live in an apartment you will need to take them to a dog park or give them time in the day to exercise or you will have a very active little puppy wanting to play when you are ready to rest. Be rest assured, the older the "shorties" or "Hunt Terrier" gets, they do tend to slow down.

History of the Hunt Terrier:
It has been said that the Black and Tan Russell Terrier or Hunt Terrier as they are referred to today, never existed except in the minds
of Victorian picture book makers. However, not only are there many photographs of the black and tan terrier from long ago, but many
books describe these loyal little dogs. From the writings of Rawdon Briggs Lee, an author of many books on dogs from the nineteenth
century and a judge at the dog shows, we know today that there was, and still is, a short, black and tan terrier.
Documentation of the black and tan terrier can be traced as far back as the 1600’s.
In 1686,“The Gentleman’s Recreation” stated that the terrier is a very small dog used for hunting the fox and the badger.
In 1760,“Field Sports” documented of two types of terriers.
They were described as rough and short legged, long backed, very strong, normally black and tan in color or yellowish, smooth-haired
and beautifully formed, having a shortened body and more sprightly appearance, generally, reddish brown color or black with tan legs.
Many black and tan terriers were used to drive fox from their holes, hunting rabbits.
They were used not only keep the vermin under control at the homestead, but also for hunting and sporting purposes.
In recent years, the “Hunt Terrier” has been bred for companionship to become a household pet, while retaining hunting abilities.
